DMCA

Shortun (shortun.com) respects the intellectual property rights of others and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and similar laws. Shortun is a link-shortening service: we do not host the content that short links point to, but we will disable short links that are used to distribute infringing material.

Filing a copyright notice

If you believe a Shortun short link leads to content that infringes your copyright, send a notice via our contact page (subject: "DMCA Notice") containing:

  • Your full name, address, phone number and email address.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  • The exact Shortun short link(s) (for example, shortun.com/xxxxx) that lead to the allegedly infringing material.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

What happens next

On receiving a valid notice we will promptly disable the reported short link(s) and, where possible, notify the member who created them. Repeat infringers' accounts are terminated.

Counter-notice

If your link was disabled and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice via the contact page (subject: "DMCA Counter-Notice") with your name, address and phone number, identification of the disabled link, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the link was disabled in error, your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts at your address (or, if outside the United States, any court where Shortun's operator may be found), and your signature. If we receive a valid counter-notice we may restore the link 10–14 business days later unless the original complainant files court action.

Other abuse

For non-copyright abuse — phishing, malware, spam or other violations of our Terms of Use — please report the link through the contact page. We review abuse reports and disable violating links quickly.
